My progress, and a water cooling mod

Postby Torandi » Thu May 31, 2018 7:52 pm

The parts printed easily on my prusa i3 mk2, and I mounted them pretty quickly.
I ran into some issues getting the engine axis to line up perfectly with the drive shaft, but solved it eventually.

My biggest issue was that the coupling on the shaft constantly came loose as soon as I applied any engine torque.
My solution to this was to flatten one side of my drive axis with a dremmel, and modify the coupling a bit.

I also came up with a better (in my opinion, not yet tested in anything other than bath tub) solution for the cooling, taking the cooling water from the jet outlet.

I run two of these engines, https://hobbyking.com/en_us/2040sl-4800 ... ooled.html, so I modified the engine mount to fit them.

I'll post my modifications in the STL part of the forum.

Really nice, if you have any pictures of the parts and the process would be nice to see! :)

Unfortunately I didn't take any progress pictures.
But here are some pictures of the modified parts.

Nice! I add a picture of the motor just in case for those who don't click on the hobbyking link. Really good price for that motor as well I must say!
